UPDATED: February 15th, 2017 – With many of us using online or electronic tax preparation websites such as TurboTax, FreeTaxUSA or H&R Block those returns get back in our bank accounts faster. Before these services we just had a general idea of when our tax refund would be coming back to us.

Checking Your Tax Refund Status
Individuals are able to view the tax refund status on IRS Where’s My Refund &IRS2Go within 24 hours after the IRS approval. This is done by visiting IRS.gov and following the steps below…
— Clicking the “Refund Status” tab
— Enter your Social Security number, as well as how you filed and the income tax refund amount.
As the IRS processes your tax return, they have a better idea of what your personalized refund date will be. If you choose, direct deposit will automatically deposit your refund to your bank account automatically.
As mentioned before filing your tax return electronically using one of the many free tax preparation websites like TaxHawk.com, FreeTaxUSA, TurboTax, H&R Block or the IRS Free File will get your refund quicker, putting that extra cash back in your bank account ready for you to decide how to use it. Check Where’s My Refund With IRS2Go
Additionally, the IRS has developed a phone app called IRS2GO. IRS2Go can be accessed via your mobile device or tablet giving users the same tax refund status as visiting IRS Where’s My Refund. Just like the IRS Where’s My Refund website, IRS2Go updates your tax refund information once every 24 hours.
IRS Where’s My Refund?
Now that you know how to find IRS where’s my refund at IRS.gov it’s time to think about how you will spend that refund. With most Americans, 30% choosing to pay off debt and 28% choosing to invest or save their tax refunds there are still some of us that like to spend our refunds as a little bonus. Some choose to plan a vacation or buy necessities such as new clothes for their children or maybe a new television for the family.
Individuals can check the status of their tax refunds 24 hours after the IRS accepts the electronic return. And up to four weeks after a paper filing. The tax return status is updated once a day usually overnight. This process has become even easier with the implementation of the IRS2Go mobile app.
We are all eager to get our refunds, but always asking IRS Where’s My Refund is no longer necessary. Now we can check the status at www.IRS.gov or on the IRS2Go mobile app. Not available on IRS Where’s My Refund are amended tax returns, business tax information or prior year tax return information. If filed on time, your previous year’s refund information is available on IRS Where’s My Refund until December.
